Two aircraft crossed the rising Moon eight minutes apart over southern Beijing.

At 400 mm, the view collapses into three things: the lunar surface, a black silhouette, and the fraction of a second in which they align. At 241 mm, the wider frame restores the city and the open night.

The aircraft never approached the Moon. It only entered the same line of sight.

I reconstructed the geometry and built a conditional probability model in A Side Note on a Lunar Transit.

A short northern passage: stone ridges at Jinshanling, the open water of Guanting Reservoir, and finally the Bohai coast at Qinhuangdao.

From Hongluo Mountain, Huairou Reservoir opens into the haze, with Beijing faint on the horizon.
